Hi, I am Ilze Be and in this picture I am together with my Latvian grandchildren Olivers and Kortnija. I am passionate about keeping our Latvian language and traditions live.
If you want to learn Latvian, you'll have to be open minded about the differences between Latvian and English. One instance is that many Latvian letters that visually match the English letters, yet they are pronounced differently. Many English speakers struggle accepting that. Thus, they read Latvian words incorrectly.
Latvian language structures also differ from English language structures. For example, there is no equivalent to the word "have" in Latvian. Therefore, you'll need to learn new ways how to construct sentences equivalent to those that contain "have" in English.
With these 2 thoughts in mind, I developed 2 types of courses for learners of Latvian
